He's fond of saying, "Rock and roll is not an age...it's an attitude." And that's certainly the creed by which this 61-year-old Rock and Roll Hall of Famer lives. But Dave Mason is something of a hidden man of classic rock who's never gotten the credit his music — especially his solo work — deserves. Aside from cofounding the seminal Traffic, he's played with a coterie of legends (Clapton, Hendrix, various Stones and Beatles), authored the warhorse "Feelin' Alright" and enjoyed a '70s mellow gold hit with "We Just Disagree." But it's records like Alone Together, It's Like You Never Left and Let it Flow that really showcase his warm voice, sterling guitar work and deft lyrics. On the just-released Live at XM Satellite Radio: The Deluxe Edition, Mason and his crack band infuse plenty of life and surprising power into a rundown of his older material, but it also includes a new studio recording, "Deaf, Dumb and Blind," that's getting lots of AC radio attention.
