You wouldn’t think there’d be much work for a freelance percussionist, but Brandon Bell stays pretty busy. So do Brian Vogel and Matthew McClung, his band mates, in Strike 3 Percussion. The trio will be performing at today’s A Little Day Music free lunchtime Da Camera concert. Strike 3 performs a variety of programs, including a historical look at the marimba and a celebration of “found instruments” such as buckets, boxes and plain old human hands.

All three musicians have traveled the world performing with big-shot orchestras and studying at big-name music schools. But they’re local boys now, and each received at least one of their multiple degrees from the Rice School of Music. In fact, McClung, who also studied with the Ewe tribe in Ghana, was the first person ever to get a doctoral degree in percussion performance at Rice (oooh, impressive). Noon. Wortham Center, Grand Foyer, 500 Texas. For information, call 713–524–5050 or visit www.dacamera.com. Free.
